Usem Akwa Ibom Project at it again

Usem Akwa Ibom made debut last year, and must have been seen by many as just a thing of fun where people take to social networking sites to test their knowledge of their language. But far from that, this is an online campaign that creates awareness about different ethnic dialects that exist in Akwa Ibom State, and encourages the use of the languages, especially on Sunday 23rd September.

This year, the organizers of USAKIPRO are at it again. As Akwa Ibom State will celebrate her 25th year of existence, Akwaibomites at home and in the Diaspora will mark this day in grand style as usual, every 2go, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, SMS, Email or Comments we make will be in Akwa Ibom language to commemorate this day.

Aniekan Ekah, the progenitor of USAKIPRO says, 'If you are Ibibio, wed k’usem Ibibio; Annang? Wed k’usem Annang; Eket? Sem k’ikwo Ekid? Oro? Suguku nsinge Oro!'

The Objective of USEM AKWA IBOM PROJECT is to celebrate Akwa Ibom's 25th anniversary in a unique way, create awareness about the different ethnic accents that exist in Akwa Ibom State and also to encourage the use of dialect amongst our youths and indigenes in diaspora.

Moreso, to show how young people are utilizing the power of social networking platforms, like Facebook, to inspire positive change in our communities thus fostering peaceful co-existence, unity and love among our people.
